3ae Architecture
When the time came to build their own house, they decided on an architect . She and her husband Martin approached three studios. Each one came up with something completely different, each one explaining why it was done this way and not another.
"At first we enjoyed it, it was very enriching, we learned a lot from each studio and found out a lot. But after a while it started to get boring. Maybe mainly the long-distance communication (at that time we were still living abroad) via emails and lack of time... So I ended up designing the house myself in the Live Interior 3D standard program," continues Květa.
"It took me almost five years. We had the project done externally, but it was another extreme. They were unable to accept many of my ideas, but they tried. Working with the patient designer was pleasant, but their presentation of our needs was too formulaic. So we eventually cancelled the order there too, paid only for the project, even though it wasn't exactly ideal, and started looking for another company. And it was the windows that led us to them, more precisely the yellow windows."
"We wanted a wooden facade, but it seemed strange to us that the windows would also look wooden or metal. That's why we came up with the color yellow. I entered a house with yellow windows into the search engine to make sure it wouldn't look terrible, and after a few pictures, a wooden building from 3AE popped up. So it was a rather strange start, but in the end it was an excellent choice," says Květa.
The design of the house is strongly inspired by Japanese architecture so that it has a positive effect on the soul and mind. The combination of light wood, yellow windows and an open attic creates a positive feeling. The interior of the house is furnished with tropical wood furniture imported from East Asia. The house is oriented to the north to provide maximum privacy and its mass shades the noise from nearby traffic. The roof overhangs protect the house from weather conditions and summer overheating, and allow outdoor seating on the terrace in all weathers.
