Riegler Riewe

Riegler Riewe sees architecture through the experience of space. The office considers both interior and exterior spaces as an essential part of everyday life, creating environments that support different ways of living, working, and using buildings. Its projects range from housing and workplaces to research facilities, mobility, infrastructure, and urban design. The practice believes that simple, well-considered design concepts make it possible to create high-quality, sustainable, and cost-effective architecture.

The office approaches architecture as a collaborative and interdisciplinary process. By bringing together expertise from different fields, it aims to combine sustainability and cost efficiency with innovative technologies and contemporary design solutions. Its work focuses on developing architectural responses to complex urban challenges, while addressing environmental and social issues.

Clear construction methods, accessibility, flexibility, and functionality are key principles of the practice. Rather than creating architecture as a visual statement, Riegler Riewe designs buildings that provide adaptable structures and spaces, allowing different forms of use and change over time.

Riegler Riewe Architekten was founded in Graz in 1987 by Florian Riegler and Roger Riewe. Christian Story joined the management team in 2021. Since 2023, the offices in Berlin, Graz, and Vienna have been led in partnership by Miriam Koudmani, Michael Münzer, Roger Riewe, and Christian Story.
