GRANİTAŞ brand was chosen as the solution partner for natural stone applications at the new airport of Istanbul, which is one of the biggest projects in Europe and the third largest in the world. The Turkish natural granites, which were extracted and processed from the granite quarries with great devotion, were applied with flawless workmanship and exhibited to the whole world in this project which is the meeting point of civilizations. Approximately 39,000 domestic natural granite is used in the interior and 15,000 square meters in the outside. GRANİTAŞ Bilkent and Kırşehir factories produced 54,000 square meters of material, which were produced with an extraordinary effort on the basis of 24 hours work, were delivered within a short period of 2.5 months. In the Unifree DutyFree section, Balaban Green and Giresun Mink natural granites, which were extracted from GRANİTAŞ's own quarries and processed in their factories, were used.
Istanbul Airport, which will expand Turkey's role in the international aviation market, was built on the European side of Istanbul on an area of 76.5 million m2 between the villages of Tayakadin and Akpinar on the Black Sea coast. Istanbul New Airport, which will consist of three terminals and six runways with a capacity of up to 200 million passengers per year, has been completed in four phases. In the first place, three independent parallel runways, taxiways, aprons, terminal buildings, air traffic, communication, meteorological systems, and other service buildings were implemented. The first passenger terminal building with an area of 1.3 million m2 is considered the largest terminal building in the world under one roof, and 90 million passengers are served annually at this terminal in the first place. In the later phases of the project, this capacity has increased to 150 million passengers with additional terminal buildings and runways. In the long term, the necessary plans have been made with the expectation that the terminal capacity of the airport can be expanded to 200 million passengers. The rough construction of the “terminal building” with a size of 1.3 million m2 and the “TB1” and “TB3” zones with a size of about 456,000 m2 were carried out by the VMK company. The rough construction of the approximately 56.000 m2 “PB2” part of the “pier buildings”, which are divided into a total of five parts, was carried out by the Biha-Tevaz Adi Partnership. VMK and Biha-Tevaz companies have chosen İNTEK as their solution partner for formwork and scaffolding systems. The flooring system of the Terminal Building consists of cast beams and prefabricated floors in place. HD 150 table system and PANEMAX panel formwork system were used in the on-site cast beams of the project, which has a very large floor height of 12 meters. The “folding railing” mounted on the tables has added a great deal of work safety and speed to the system. The circular columns with a diameter of Ø200 and Ø150 cm and a height of 11.40 meters were made very quickly by making daily concrete castings thanks to İNTEK designs that simplify and speed up operations and at the same time prioritize worker safety.
