The 2025 Architecture Drawing Prize Winners Announced and Exhibited at the World Architecture Festival, Miami

The 2025 Architecture Drawing Prize Winners Announced and Exhibited at the World Architecture Festival, Miami

Launched in 2017, The Architecture Drawing Prize is co-curated by Make Architects, Sir  John Soane’s Museum and World Architecture Festival (WAF). The 2025 sponsor is Iris  Ceramica Group with ArchDaily and Dezeen as Prize media partners.

The Prize celebrates and showcases the art and skill of architectural drawing across multiple  modes of creation and has attracted a record number of entries with more than 200 drawings  from around the world. In recognition of the evolving nature of architectural drawing,  including the growing influence of AI tools and techniques, this year’s awards have been  judged on an overall basis rather than in category silos. WAF invited entries of all types and  forms – from conceptual to technical or construction drawings, cutaways or perspective  views – and anything in between. Entries from architects, designers and students have been  evaluated based on their technical skill, originality of approach and ability to convey an architectural idea.

This year’s judges are founder of Make Architects, Ken Shuttleworth; artists Ben Langlands  and Nikki Bell; founder of Lily Jencks Studio, Lily Jencks; Iris Ceramica Group CEO,  Federica Minozzi; head of design communications at Foster + Partners, Narinder Sagoo;  assistant curator of exhibitions at Sir John Soane’s Museum, Erin McKellar; and WAF  programme director and Chair of the jury, Paul Finch.

The programme includes a special prize for hand-drawing to mark the spirit in which the  awards were initiated. The winner is ‘Dockyard X’ by Jason Wang. Crafted using graphite  on paper, Wang’s project envisions an architectural intervention where a team of specialists  repurpose decommissioned naval components, embedding the site’s military maritime  identity into an experimental hydrofoil design.

Paul Finch, WAF programme director and Chair of the jury, said: “A rethink of awards criteria  resulted in the biggest number of entries ever — well over 200 — with no loss of quality.  Long may this continue!”

Ken Shuttleworth, founder of Make Architects who originally set up The Architecture Drawing  Prize, added: “The future of architectural drawing is constantly evolving, especially with the  emergence of AI. The Drawing Prize is proud to support and encourage new ways of  expressing and celebrating architectural draughtsmanship.”

Erin McKellar, assistant curator of exhibitions at Sir John Soane’s Museum, commented:  “This year, for the first time, The Architecture Drawing Prize decided not to consider  drawings in category silos. This resulted in an exciting group of entries, many of which  bridge drawing methods and media. Hand-drawing is seen across the shortlist, with some  drawings beginning as hand-drawings, others including hand-drawn elements, and still  others entirely hand-drawn. In many ways, hand-drawing feels fresher and more relevant  than ever.”

Federica Minozzi, CEO of Iris Ceramica Group, said: “We are really honoured to sponsor the  Award. The Architecture Drawing Prize is a brilliant opportunity to demonstrate the genius of  people and the desire to experiment. Hence the importance of it: it assumes a prominent role  in reflecting architectural creativity.”

All winning entries will be displayed at the World

Architecture Festival in Miami, which takes place from 12 November to 14 November 2025.  The overall winner will be announced at the private preview of The Architecture Drawing  Prize exhibition at Sir John Soane’s Museum, where a selection of shortlisted works will be  on display from 28 January to 15 February 2026. Details will be available via the Soane  website.
