As Building Catalog, we would like to congratulate both you and your team for the award you received! Could you briefly introduce your company and your main fields of activity?

First of all, thank you very much for this valuable award and invitation.

As solidian & kelteks, we are an international company producing high-technology technical textiles and reinforcements for the composites, construction, and anti-seismic industries, while also developing advanced engineering composite solutions. For the construction and anti-seismic sectors in particular, we focus on non-metallic reinforcement technologies, FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) systems, alkali-resistant glass fiber solutions, and innovative structural systems designed to improve seismic performance.

Our activities include concrete reinforcement solutions, wall strengthening systems, technical textile-based reinforcements, and sustainable construction technologies. In all our developments, we prioritize not only mechanical performance, but also durability, corrosion-free service life, lightweight construction, and sustainability.

Could you tell us a little about the FLEX WALL SYSTEM? We would love to hear the story behind it.

Our award-winning product, solidian FLEX WALL SYSTEM, is an innovative wall solution developed to improve the behavior of masonry infill walls under earthquake loading.

The starting point of this idea was the frequent damage observed in masonry infill walls, especially in seismic regions. Conventional rigid connections often create unintended stress transfer between the structural frame and the wall during earthquakes, leading to cracking, brittle damage, and in some cases out-of-plane collapse.

We approached this problem from a different perspective by developing a flexible connection concept that enables controlled movement between the structural frame and the infill wall. As a completely new, non-metallic, and corrosion-free alternative to conventional methods currently used in the market, FLEX WALL SYSTEM allows the structure to move in a controlled manner during earthquakes while maintaining wall stability at the same time.

What are the key innovative aspects of the FLEX WALL SYSTEM? What differentiates it within the sector?

In my opinion, the most distinctive aspect of the FLEX WALL SYSTEM is its adoption of a “controlled interaction” approach from a seismic engineering perspective.

Traditional systems are usually based either on completely rigid connections or on fully separated solutions. We developed a balanced approach between these two extremes. The system allows in-plane movement while simultaneously maintaining out-of-plane stability.

Another important differentiator is the use of non-metallic technologies such as alkali-resistant glass fiber, glass fiber, and carbon fiber. This provides several advantages:

• Elimination of corrosion risks,

• A significantly lighter system,

• Easier installation and application,

• Long service life,

• Important sustainability advantages.

In addition, the system was optimized for ease of application and adaptation to real construction site conditions. Since it was developed by taking actual field conditions into account, the result is not only a theoretical concept, but also a practical and applicable engineering solution.

Finally, could you share your thoughts about the Golden Plumb Awards process and what this award means for your company and your team?

We believe that the Golden Plumb Awards represent a highly valuable platform for the construction industry. They play an important role in increasing the visibility of innovative ideas, engineering-driven approaches, and sustainable solutions. During the 31st Altın Çekül Awards, we once again experienced how meaningful and important this visibility truly is.

Receiving the Silver Plumb Award in the Idea Award category with solidian FLEX WALL SYSTEM is an incredible source of pride for us. We see this award not only as an achievement, but also as a strong indication that we are moving in the right direction.
