3LHD is an interdisciplinary architectural practice integrating architecture, urban planning, design, and art. At the core of the studio’s work is the exploration of relationships between architecture, society, and individuals, with a continuous focus on discovering new forms of interaction between them.
Each project is approached through its own unique context, conditions, and parameters. The design process is integral, analytical, and iterative, bringing together architects and experts from diverse disciplines within a collaborative framework. In this process, 3LHD acts not only as a designer but also as a producer and coordinator, connecting different perspectives and areas of expertise.
Each project is considered a form of prototype—sometimes involving the reinterpretation of existing ideas and at other times exploring entirely new possibilities. The objective is to identify the most appropriate concept for each project and create new value through architecture.
3LHD was founded in Zagreb in 1994 by Saša Begović, Marko Dabrović, Tatjana Grozdanić Begović, and Silvije Novak. Paula Kukuljica joined the studio as a partner in 2016.
Notable projects include the Memorial Bridge in Rijeka, the Croatian Pavilion at EXPO 2005 in Japan, Riva Waterfront in Split, Sports Hall Bale in Istria, Hotel Lone and Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, LN Garden Hotel in China, Campus Infobip, the Park Kneževa residential block, and Campus Rimac in Zagreb. The studio’s work has received numerous Croatian and international architectural awards.
As the practice has grown and its projects have increased in scale and complexity, 3LHD has continuously developed its working methodologies. The architectural studio is conceived as a platform for coordinated production, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the exchange of knowledge. The demands of large-scale projects have also shaped new organizational models designed to support intensive and effective collaboration throughout the studio.
