Koçtaş Ticaret A.Ş., which has been serving as a building materials wholesaler for large construction projects since 1955, started its retail sales on May 24, 1996 with its first store opened in Izmir-Bornova. It continued to operate in the retail sector with the stores opened in Antalya Topçular in July 1998 and in Izmir Balçova in December 1998.
Koçtaş signed a partnership agreement with B&Q, a subsidiary of Kingfisher group, in 2000, one of the three largest companies in the home improvement industry worldwide, in order to become a leader in its sector, to acquire innovations in the world through the transfer of know-how, and thus to gain an edge over its competitors by creating an international purchasing power. With the partnership that started in February 2000; 50% of the company's shares are given to the Koç Group and 50% to the Kingfisher Group, to which B & Q is affiliated, and the official name of the company is Koçtaş Yapı Marketleri Ticaret A.Ş. it happened.

Today, Koçtaş offers its customers the products of many domestic and imported brands with the advantage of affordable prices and easy payment, with a total of 41 stores in 19 provinces of Turkey, from İzmir to Diyarbakır, from Trabzon to Mersin. In Koçtaş stores, tens of thousands of products are sold from decorative products to furniture, from home textiles to kitchens, bathrooms and ceramics, from garden furniture to lighting products, from young rooms to ready-made curtains, from carpets to paints and parquet.
